4th Quarter Experiences

Image
This year overall has been a wonderful learning experience despite the pandemic. For the last quarter, I learned how to use the MS FrontPage and it's different parts. I also learned how to create a website and many more. I feel grateful and happy that I passed all the challenges for this school year.          For the 4th quarter, I am struggling with keeping on top of all my work. I had a hard time managing my time and I'm always distracted. I always procrastinate too. It may appear that accomplishing these things is simple, but I believe that I have not only overcome these obstacles, but also used them to grow as a person. Overcoming these challenges makes them meaningful. I had a lot of discoveries not only about academics but also to myself. The exploration of these discoveries resulted in a memorable experiences.          Moving on, I will continue learning and I will do my best despite of different ...

Make the World a Better Place

Image
World Environment Day was designated by the United Nations on June 5th. It's a day dedicated to nature and the preservation of our world for future generations. The day raises awareness about the need of caring for nature, protecting the foods we eat, breathing clean air, and keeping water bodies clean. Forests, farmlands, towns, wetlands, and oceans are all examples of ecosystems that can be restored. Governments and development organizations, as well as corporations, communities, and people, can all undertake restoration programs.           We can restore the environment in a variety of ways, such as actively planting or eliminating stressors so that nature can heal on its own. Returning an ecosystem to its original state is not always possible – or desirable. On land that was previously forest, for example, we still need farms and infrastructure, and ecosystems, like society, must adapt to a changing climate. We c...

Philippine Independence Day

Image
Philippine Independence Day is one of the most important celebrations in the country since the Pearl of the Orient Seas has been freed after more than 300 years of Spanish oppression. Since 1962, the 12th of June has been observed as Philippine Independence Day. The ceremony was originally scheduled for July 4, but President Diosdado Macapagal moved it to June 12 to honor Emilio Aguinaldo's declaration of independence from the Spaniards. This day is more than just a holiday; it is a day on which Filipinos commemorate the bravery and sacrifices of warriors and heroes who battled for our homeland.  On this day, we also honor the sacrifices made by front-line workers and critical workers to assist our country in times of need.           The Philippine Independence Day is celebrated from May 28 to June 12, and all government buildings, houses, and public spaces are encouraged to fly the country's flag. The country starts the c...

Superwomen

Image
Our mothers provide us with a sense of security by rescuing us from any issues. She seems unconcerned about her personal difficulties and is always listening to us. The second Sunday of May month has been designed as Mother's Day to honor her. This is a significant event for us and our mothers. On Mother's Day, we should make our mothers happy rather than sad. We must constantly obey her and perform our duties properly. She is continually striving to make us better people in life.           Mothers’ contribution to society is unmatchable. Motherhood is the greatest gift of God to humanity. Every mother goes to great lengths to ensure the happiness and contentment of her family and children. There is no one who can match a mother's strength, love, and sacrifice. The least we can do to honor her is to celebrate her virtues through the events of a day.           Every youngster wishes to honor their mother...

Binatbatan Festival 2021 Celebration

Image
According to Damaso King, a well-known Vigan historian, the Viva Vigan Binatbatan Festival of the Arts, which runs from the last week of April to the first week of May, was originally the Feast of the Natives, which began on May 3, 1883. Former Mayor Eva S. Medina maintained the group's work to promote Vigan in 1995, giving birth to the Viva Vigan Festival of the Arts. Binatbatan Festival, however, was established in 2002 to honor one of the enterprises that kept inhabitants alive: abel Iloco hand-loom weaving.                       Binatbatan is the method of removing the seeds from cotton pods by beating them. The event was commemorated publicly on the municipal government's official Facebook Page, with various city employees and media representatives in attendance, all of whom followed the covid-19 fundamental health rules. Followed by a Misa Concelebrada at Simbaan a Bassit. Because...

Equality and Unity

Image
Women's empowerment refers to giving women the power to make decisions for themselves. Women have endured a great deal at the hands of men over the years. They were viewed like they didn't exist in previous centuries. As if all rights, including the right to vote, belonged to men. Women became more aware of their power as time passed and the revolution for women's empowerment started there.                      Women's empowerment came as a breath of fresh air because they were not able to make choices for themselves. It made them aware of their rights and how to make their own path in society rather than relying on a man. It acknowledged that things do not always work in someone's favor solely because of their gender. There are different ways to empower women. Individuals and the government must work together to achieve this. Girls' education should be made compulsory so that they do not be...

3rd Quarter Experiences

Image
During the third quarter, I learned several things related to my own place because we are tasked to do a community-based research. I also learned how to create a Sitemap for my project. There are different challenges or distractions I faced while studying. But I thought myself that challenge is part of everyday life, without them, life will be meaningless.           Because of our task, I learned that community-based research is necessary to remove the various social, cultural, and logistical barriers that confound the well-intentioned efforts of many public health programs. I learned some important information that I barely knew about my place even if it's my hometown. I also learned a lot of new things this quarter aside from the community-based research, like the several things related to the process of learning. For example, intellectual abilities and artistic abilities go hand-in-hand. This quarter was quite d...

Ensuring a Safe and Effective COVID-19 Vaccine

Image
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a worldwide human tragedy and economic disaster. To reduce virus morbidity and mortality, governments have implemented lockdown measures, halted foreign travel, and imposed various public containment restrictions. But these measure aren't enough to fight COVID-19, fighting a pandemic requires using all the tools we have. This leaves us with only one option: an effective and safe vaccine that will be created as soon as possible and made available at a cheap price to all countries and people affected by the pandemic.           Different brand of vaccines against COVID-19 are already available in the Philippines. They conducted clinical trials of all COVID vaccines to first show that they are safe and effective before they authorized or approved it for use. Here are some of the information about the vaccines against COVID-19. It is both safe and effective. You may experienc...

The Day of Valor

Image
The Day of Valor, also known as Araw ng Kagitingan, honors the bravery of Filipinos and American soldiers during World War II when the Philippines was invaded by the Japanese. With this year's theme, "Kagitingan ay Gawing Gabay, Pandemya ay Mapagtatagumpayan," the celebration also serves as a reminder that, just as our Filipino veterans defended our country during the war, we can resolve our ongoing fight against COVID-19 through sheer courage and determination.            Several promotional activities are held in time for the celebration. There are series of virtual commemorative events held like the Sunrise Wreath-Laying Ceremony on 5 April at 8:00 am. A Tribute to All Filipino Heroes was held on 7 April at 9:00 am to honor all Filipino heroes, patriots, martyrs, and defenders who fought and died for the country’s freedom. On the actual day of the observance of Araw ng Kagitinga...

Lenten Season 2021

Image
For many people, Lent is associated with certain kinds of sacrifices, including giving up something you love for the season, abstaining from meat on Fridays, and fasting on set dates. Over the ages, these types of voluntary self-denial have served the Christian faithful well as a series of rituals that help us break free from our everyday habits and ordinary lives in order to renew ourselves in living the gospel. We've skipped holiday parties, birthdays, and a lot more than we'd expected even during the Lenten Season. But at all times, everything with breath should praise the Lord. This continues even now, with so much going wrong in our world.            Catholics are longing to return to communal worship while facing the second Lenten season still fighting the COVID pandemic. With COVID-19 cases in the country still rising, the Catholic faithful are encouraged to find safer, alternative ways to celebrate the Lente...

National Women's Month 2021

The celebration is held on the month of March every year. The International Women's Day theme is, "Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”. It aims to feature inspirational stories and messages from women who managed to lead and thrive in our fight against the pandemic. It is the time to delve deep into the gender issues that emerged or become more felt during the health crisis, feature women who thrived despite th...

2nd Quarter Experiences

Image
I feel grateful and happy that I passed all the challenges for the first quarter. I'm also very thankful that my family and friends are there for me. Without their help, I think I won't make it to the end. Hopefully they won't get tired of me.           Problems and challenges doesn't end in the first quarter, it's just the starting point. Just like for the first quarter, I also encountered a lot of challenges this quarter. Sometimes, I'm doubting myself and a lot of self-questioning about my capabilities happens. But I found out that a little self-doubt can actually be a good thing. It’s good to know my limits and weaknesses because it gives me the ability to improve upon them. I learned to think positively and avoid negative thoughts.           Moving on, I will be more confident on everything I'll do. Instead of allowing challenges to get the best of me, I will practice self-compassion. This will als...

Celebrating My Valentine's Day

Image
February is known as the month of love and romance. Valentine's day is celebrated as a day of expressing love between families and friends, romantic couples and of course to yourself. Many restaurants have dinner promotion on Valentine's day and the food often presented with symbols of love such as flowers and hearts. Some people give greeting cards, jewelry, chocolate or flowers, particularly roses, to their partners or admirers on Valentine’s Day.            Every year, I celebrates Valentine's Day with my family. If we failed to express our love for them, Valentine's day is the best opportunity to express it. We celebrated it with eating and bonding together. We didn't have a grand celebration yet it's full of love and very meaningful. I also spent some alone time with myself. Even if there's a pandemic, we celebrated valentine's happy and contented. Having a special partner isn't the only aspect of love. It's also abou...

Kannawidan Festival Celebration 2021

Image
Unlike previous years when the Kannawidan Festival is being celebrated for at least a month, this year, it only ran for a week starting Friday, January 29 until February 5. The residents of Ilocos Sur province had a simpler celebration of this year's annual Kannawidan Ylocos Festival. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the provincial government, through its provincial tourism office, has declared strict guidelines to be followed during the festival.           Held in the Heritage City of Vigan, the festival opened at the Kannawidan Grounds in Barangay Tamag with the ribbon cutting of the Trade and Food Fair, where the one-town-one-product of the province's towns and cities was displayed. It was followed by the Holy Mass concelebrated at Saint Paul Cathedral in this city led by government workers from national and local offices, public officials and members of non-government-organizations. The Trade and Food Fair provides additi...

Celebration Amidst the COVID 19 Pandemic

Image
Vigan City Fiesta is celebrated during the feast day of the conversion of St. Paul the Apostle, St. Paul is Vigan City’s patron saint, every January 25. The celebration usually lasts for several days. Colorful and grand, this fiesta express the joyful and vibrant lifestyle that the Bigueños exemplify every day. Locals and tourists gather to experience and see the street dancing, carnivals, food fairs, and arts and crafts. But because of the pandemic brought by covid-19 we can't do the things that we used to do.             In the previous years, Bigueños from different places usually return to their hometown to join their friends and families in the celebration of Vigan City Fiesta. We should enjoying the cultural shows, parades and street dancing prepared by the local government with the help of the local industries and communities but, because of covid-19 we can't. There’s no parade nor street dancing happe...

New Year Resolutions

Image
We are humans with good and bad bundled together. Washing away unwanted habits from us and cultivating new and positive habits and disciplines as a part of life is necessary. Setting New Year Resolution is a good move to renew ourselves year after year. New Year has always seemed to me a beginning of a new cycle, or a new path of self-development, but I never write detailed resolutions, having only abstractive understanding of my plans for future. But this year will end with a following resolution.                     First of all, I would like to become more assertive. I need more confident and courage with all the things I would do. I also want to consider all my faults and failures for improvement. Sometimes, I'm very dependent upon the opinion of others so, I want to manage some situation without relying upon others imposition. Second, as students we should refine our thoughts, cultivate good habits...

1st Quarter Experiences

Image
The things that we used to take for granted like eating out, visiting family, hanging out with friends, and even just running errands are now things that we either have to make do without or have to be extra cautious because of the pandemic. As long as there’s no vaccine in sight, we may have to accept that things have to change if we are to stay alive.             One of the changes is the new way of learning. I had a lot of experiences for the first quarter. I discovered that, without the help of teachers, I barely understand the concepts of the modules. I would always prepare extra time to study them. Sometimes, I asked my friends for help. Because of this, I realized that I've became more independent. Lack of internet access is also one of the challenges, including sleeping late at night, not eating meals at the right time, and having a headache due to lack ...

Education is the First Step

Image
Glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, cloud forests are dying, and wildlife is scrambling to keep pace. It has become clear that humans have caused most of the past century's warming by releasing heat-trapping gases as we power our modern lives. What will we do? What can we do to slow this human-caused warming? How will we cope with the changes we've already set into motion? While we struggle to figure it all out, the fate of the Earth as we know it—coasts, forests, farms, and snow-capped mountains hangs in the balance.                     Climate change has already impacted ecosystems and humans. The warming of the earth’s surface is undermining our national food and energy security, and therefore requires broad and intensive information and educational campaign to impress on the general public the awesome and terrifying consequences of this phenomenon and to secure the collective ...

Importance of taking part in NSED

Image
We all know, that Philippines is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire. Because of our location, we are prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions caused by the movement of tectonic plates. We conduct different programs and activities in preperation for an earthquake. One of these is the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED). It is initiated by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through the Office of Civil Defense in an effort to "continuously instill to the public earthquake preparedness amid the pandemic."             Although we cannot be able to prevent natural earthquakes from occuring, we can lessen the effects by using early warning systems, building safer structures, providing education on earthquake safety and implementing plans to help recover in case of an earthquake. We can also reduced the risk from human induced earthquakes by preparing for natural earthq...

Covid-19's Impact on our Education

Image
Now, we are living through one of the greatest threats in our lifetime. Coronavirus disease or Covid-19 affected people regardless of nationality, level of education, income or gender. It also affected our education. As of March 28, 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic is causing more than 1.6 billion children and youth to be out of school in 161 countries. This is close to 80% of the worlds enrolled students. This pandemic has the potential to worsen the amount of children who cannot read and understand at the age of 10, if we do not act fast.             Losses in learning, increased dropout rates and children missing their most important meal of the day, these are some of the immediate impact of crisis on our children and youth. Moreover, most countries have very unequal education systems, and these negative impacts will be felt disproportionately by poor children. Just like here in the Philippines. As the public he...
