Lenten Season 2021

For many people, Lent is associated with certain kinds of sacrifices, including giving up something you love for the season, abstaining from meat on Fridays, and fasting on set dates. Over the ages, these types of voluntary self-denial have served the Christian faithful well as a series of rituals that help us break free from our everyday habits and ordinary lives in order to renew ourselves in living the gospel. We've skipped holiday parties, birthdays, and a lot more than we'd expected even during the Lenten Season. But at all times, everything with breath should praise the Lord. This continues even now, with so much going wrong in our world.

Catholics are longing to return to communal worship while facing the second Lenten season still fighting the COVID pandemic. With COVID-19 cases in the country still rising, the Catholic faithful are encouraged to find safer, alternative ways to celebrate the Lenten Season. Aside from prayers and other religious events, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines(CBCP) urged us to engage in charitable and solidarity activities to help fellow citizens who are suffering the most as a result of the health crisis. There is no greater love than the Lenten Season's commemoration of Jesus Christ's sacrifice for all of humanity. As we face the pandemic's threats, let us remember his ultimate sacrifice. As a country, we are urged to consider His selfless actions, imitate them, and follow in His ways.

I hope that everyone stayed at home during this Lent and avoided any kind of mass gathering to prevent the spread of COVID. As we continue to fulfill our spiritual responsibilities, let us pray for all of our frontline staff who are battling the COVID-19 outbreak in the country and the thousands of people who have died because of the virus. This Lenten Season serve as a reminder of our unwavering faith.
