New Year Resolutions

Image
We are humans with good and bad bundled together. Washing away unwanted habits from us and cultivating new and positive habits and disciplines as a part of life is necessary. Setting New Year Resolution is a good move to renew ourselves year after year. New Year has always seemed to me a beginning of a new cycle, or a new path of self-development, but I never write detailed resolutions, having only abstractive understanding of my plans for future. But this year will end with a following resolution.                     First of all, I would like to become more assertive. I need more confident and courage with all the things I would do. I also want to consider all my faults and failures for improvement. Sometimes, I'm very dependent upon the opinion of others so, I want to manage some situation without relying upon others imposition. Second, as students we should refine our thoughts, cultivate good habits...

1st Quarter Experiences

Image
The things that we used to take for granted like eating out, visiting family, hanging out with friends, and even just running errands are now things that we either have to make do without or have to be extra cautious because of the pandemic. As long as there’s no vaccine in sight, we may have to accept that things have to change if we are to stay alive.             One of the changes is the new way of learning. I had a lot of experiences for the first quarter. I discovered that, without the help of teachers, I barely understand the concepts of the modules. I would always prepare extra time to study them. Sometimes, I asked my friends for help. Because of this, I realized that I've became more independent. Lack of internet access is also one of the challenges, including sleeping late at night, not eating meals at the right time, and having a headache due to lack ...

Education is the First Step

Image
Glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, cloud forests are dying, and wildlife is scrambling to keep pace. It has become clear that humans have caused most of the past century's warming by releasing heat-trapping gases as we power our modern lives. What will we do? What can we do to slow this human-caused warming? How will we cope with the changes we've already set into motion? While we struggle to figure it all out, the fate of the Earth as we know it—coasts, forests, farms, and snow-capped mountains hangs in the balance.                     Climate change has already impacted ecosystems and humans. The warming of the earth’s surface is undermining our national food and energy security, and therefore requires broad and intensive information and educational campaign to impress on the general public the awesome and terrifying consequences of this phenomenon and to secure the collective ...

Importance of taking part in NSED

Image
We all know, that Philippines is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire. Because of our location, we are prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions caused by the movement of tectonic plates. We conduct different programs and activities in preperation for an earthquake. One of these is the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED). It is initiated by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through the Office of Civil Defense in an effort to "continuously instill to the public earthquake preparedness amid the pandemic."             Although we cannot be able to prevent natural earthquakes from occuring, we can lessen the effects by using early warning systems, building safer structures, providing education on earthquake safety and implementing plans to help recover in case of an earthquake. We can also reduced the risk from human induced earthquakes by preparing for natural earthq...

Covid-19's Impact on our Education

Image
Now, we are living through one of the greatest threats in our lifetime. Coronavirus disease or Covid-19 affected people regardless of nationality, level of education, income or gender. It also affected our education. As of March 28, 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic is causing more than 1.6 billion children and youth to be out of school in 161 countries. This is close to 80% of the worlds enrolled students. This pandemic has the potential to worsen the amount of children who cannot read and understand at the age of 10, if we do not act fast.             Losses in learning, increased dropout rates and children missing their most important meal of the day, these are some of the immediate impact of crisis on our children and youth. Moreover, most countries have very unequal education systems, and these negative impacts will be felt disproportionately by poor children. Just like here in the Philippines. As the public he...

Unity in Adversity

COVID-19 was characterized by World Health Organization as a pandemic, pointing to over 3 million cases and 207,973 deaths in 213 countries and territories. This virus is not only a global pandemic and public health crisis; it has also severely affected the global economy and financial markets.              Significant economic impact has already occurred across the globe due to reduced productivity, loss of life, business closures, trade disruption, and decimation of the tourism industry. So, the world needs now is a more robust, ethical and equitable social-ecological economy, specially our country. In order to do this, cooperation of filipino people and the government is a must. Goverment must help more businesses to grow in order to create job.  Filipino people can help by buying local products. This means that we support ourselves too. When we spend our ...

My letter to the President

Image
Dear President Rodrigo Duterte,           Good day! I just want to thank and congatulate you for all of your accomplishments and for all of your successful campaigns during your administration. Thank you also for leading and protecting the Philippines and also for the things you did to preserve and help our environment.           While doing your duties and responsibilities, I want you to guard yourself and stay safe always. I want you to also know my worries about our academics. A lot of students commited suicides this school year because of modules. A lot of people doesn't have work this time beacause of a pandemic so, they can't afford to buy the things we need for studies. Maybe you can do something about this.           That's all thank you. Continue to do your duties and responsibilities with all your best. Specially now that we're facing a pandemic.  Reference (s):  https://www.casino.org/news/ro...
